Using drama to motivate and help educate young people.
Coventry’s Belgrade Theatre pioneered Theatre in Education in the Swinging 60s, and I was privileged to photograph most of their shows over these trailblazing years. The movement soon spread to theatres across the UK, before making its mark worldwide. My extensive archive images have been used in books, newspapers, TV productions for the BBC and by the Royal Shakespeare Company, Stratford upon Avon.
Clockwise - Images of younger children interacting with the team. A shot from The Carmakers, a production that explored the history of Coventry’s motor industry through the changing times of the 19th and 20th centuries. A circle of spellbound youngsters and a Studio Workshop production about the First World War.
